American Legion Post 97
Giving Back to Our Nation’s Heroes
Chartered in 1920, American Legion Post 97 is committed to serving veterans in Auburn, IN. We honor these brave individuals by providing them with a warm, friendly environment in which they can get together with other former soldiers. Moreover, we hold activities with veterans’ families and organize other social events within the community.
Hello Legion, Auxiliary, ALR, and Sons of the American Legion,
As usual, I want to start by thanking everyone for all you do to make our Legion the best. Special thanks to those who helped with the Mike Beebe funeral, the Fourth District installation of officers, and the Fourth District food drive. Every family member who contributed non-perishable goods or cash donations helped Hoosier families in need. We are truly blessed with kind, caring members.
On August 22, our Legion hosted a VA information fair. 72 veterans received assistance from VA representatives who truly care about our veterans. I am thankful and proud that we stepped up for our veterans and their families.
September is almost here. We plan to open on Sundays beginning September 13, provided business justifies it. On September 12, we are asking each family unit to help clean out the Legion Barn. Please remove any personal items you are no longer using. The fire truck stored in the barn is no longer needed; we are looking to sell or donate it (as-is, with needed repairs) to the museum in Auburn. Anyone interested should submit an offer to the Legion by the end of September.
We need bartenders and kitchen help. Please let us know if you or someone you know is interested.
Treasure Chest, 50/50, and cellphone drawings require that you be a Legion member or family member, be on Legion property, and show your current membership card to the Commander. Electronic gaming follows the same rules—only Legion family members may play. Bartenders are responsible for enforcement. The Legion will follow Indiana state gaming rules and our house rules.
God bless,
Clare Fater
